Aftermarket Gas Pressure Valves

Installation and tips

Your Pro 785 comes stock from the factory with electronically controlled exhaust valves. These particular valves are controlled electronically through a control module that is based on the engines RPM's.

The stock system is excellent

However, if you are interested in making changes to your exhaust valve system then there are some options. There are aftermarket gas pressure valves that operate solely on the pressure in your engines cylinders and eliminate the electronic actuator from the equation. The preformance gains here are shaving a little weight (not much) and eliminating the possibility of mechanical or electronic failure from the actuator and the supporting cable and wiring systems. Additionally the gas pressure system gives the user some easy tunability and can increase throttle response.

Gas pressure valves are not the easiest aftermarket part to find for your Pro 785. Hot Seat Performance manufactured then for quite some time and Watcon out of Washington also manufactured some. Hot Seat valves can usually be picked out by their blue caps while Watcon valves have silver caps. There might be some other differences too but we are waiting for verification on those. Bottom line is they are both hard to find. Every now and then someone gets together enough money and engineering specs to make a new run of them but thats rare. Be sure to check our parts section to see if any are avialable.

Installation and General Usage Instructions

Gas pressure valves will easily replace the stock valves but there are a few concerns you will need to address in terms of installation and removal. Because of the large profile of the valves and the exhaust headers and pipe, there is an "order of operations" that must be followed when installing or removing the valves!

The most important thing to remember when working with your valves in any way is that your MAG exhaust valve MUST GO ON before you install the PTO Pipe! We cannot stress this enough. There is no worse feeling than getting your pipes all snug and installed just to find out you have to remove one just to put in a damn exhaust valve. Install all three valves before you put the pipes back in.
